At Fogdö Salmon Farm in the northern parts of Roslagen a macabre discovery is made in one of the farm’s pools; a human foot. The Norrtälje police soon arrive to investigate. Divers find
several more body parts, but the head is missing.
Detective inspector Solbritt Andersson is recovering from a work-related injury at her house on nearby Singö island. During her recovery, she reminisces about her very first criminal investigation; a rage-fuelled stabbing at the medical centre of the Stockholm suburb of Fruängen. Solbritt is also informed and faced with the news that her mother, Gun, quite possibly is on her last breath. Despite all this, and her husband Rune thoroughly protesting the matter, Solbritt is still pulled in to assist in the horrifying case of the dismembered body.
